Thanda Royal Zulu FC u19 reached the semi-final in their first competitive tournament.
Thanda Royal Zulu FC u19 played their first competitve tournament during the week of the 4th to the 11th of august and pulled of a great performance to reach the semi-finals.

In the beginning of July of 2008 Thanda Royal Zulu FC started their youth development program and the u19 team started the season with one of the hardest challenges, the Super Sport u19 tournament. The team looked great in training and it was with great anticipation that we entered the tournament.
Thanda Royal Zulu FC’s youth coach Paul Matthews says “the team played excellent and this is probably the highlight of the season for the u19 team. I am very proud of the team.”
To reach the semi-final the Amabhubesi beat teams like Moroka Swallows, Bloemfontein Celtic and Sundowns and after drawing against the Nigerian team Gateway we played Van Gils in the quarter final which ended in a 1-0 victory for Thanda. In the semi-final the journey came to an end after a penalty shoot-out against the Soweto team.
Thanda Royal Zulu FC's Felix Obada won the tournaments golden boot, scoring 4 of the teams 7 goals.
Thanda Royal Zulu FC which was the first team from Kwa-Zulu Natal to reach the semi-final did this by only letting in one goal, not counting the penalty shoot out.
