The supporters are a decisive element for all successful football teams. Thanda Royal Zulu FC’s supporters’ club is called Amabhubesi - The Lions.
The aim is to build a structured, active and committed supporters’ club that is based on classic terrace culture. The objective is not only to create support for the team, but also give the fans pleasure from the game and a sense of belonging in their own arena – an approach as professional as everything else related to the club.
Football is already the most popular sport in South Africa, and the World Cup will increase interest in football in general. Combine this with the strong, proud Zulu culture, as personified by the Zulu King, His Majesty King Zwelithini Goodwill kaBhekuzulu, who has let the club use the name – and Amabhubesi will become a supporters’ club that no-one can ignore.
